Overview and Objectives
Learning Outcomes:
The training program is designed to equip ophthalmologists with contemporary knowledge regarding various retinal disorders, thereby ensuring precise and prompt diagnosis and treatment to stave off unnecessary blindness. Each fellow will cultivate a comprehensive evaluative approach to clinical cases, enhancing their clinical acumen and proficiency in the judicious application of diagnostic modalities. Such competencies will facilitate accurate diagnosis and management.
A practical training approach will immerse candidates in all therapeutic options available in medical retina, including laser therapies and intravitreal injections. Furthermore, the program fosters a scientific ethos among fellows through active participation in academic discussions, journal clubs, and clinical research initiatives. Opportunities for fellows to present their research at conferences will also be provided.
In addition to clinical training, this fellowship actively engages in community outreach initiatives. This involvement not only nurtures an inclination towards community service among fellows but also contributes to overarching national health objectives.

Candidates must possess a Postgraduate Degree in Ophthalmology from an accredited institution.

Program Description:
The primary goal of this fellowship is to provide candidates with a foundational understanding of retinal disorders and familiarize them with essential examination techniques, such as slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, and indentation techniques.
Fellows will gain proficiency in the utilization and interpretation of various diagnostic modalities pertinent to retinal assessment, including Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) and Ultrasonography (USG). They will also develop expertise in the treatment of retinal pathologies, encompassing diverse laser techniques and intravitreal injection methodologies.
Fellows will actively engage in the evaluation and management of patients presenting with medical retinal disorders, including but not limited to Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy, and retinal vascular disorders.

Payment Procedures
The course fee encompasses tuition and instructional materials. International participants may facilitate payment online; account details and payment instructions will be communicated by the course coordinator upon confirmation of admission.
Visa Requirements
A visa is a prerequisite for traveling to India. Given that the purpose of your visit is training, you must secure either a student visa, entry visa, or internship visa, depending on the duration of your training. It is advisable to obtain a visa that covers the entire training period prior to your arrival in India,.
Approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC)
Obtaining a temporary medical license from the NMC is essential for all internationally selected ophthalmologists undergoing surgical training in India. The application process with the NMC is conducted through an online portal, and the institution will manage the approval process following the receipt of necessary information and documents from the participants. Final selection is contingent upon the successful completion of this process.
On arrival at Ruby Eye Hospital:
The FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office) registration formalities will be done as per the instructions given on your visa page. If required, documents should be presented to the local police commissioner office in person. Please refer registration guidelines for more details.
